This has always bothered me, because I prefer the alt version of the official character sheet, but the bonus for Insight and History are linked, as are the proficiency markers for Investigation and Medicine. I switched to MPMBs Character Record Sheet for my latest campaign for the fact that it includes info for a ton of UA, and non standard classes. I second MPMB. It cuts the character creation process down from an hour to about five minutes, and it's updated nearly weekly with UA and other content.

A lot of my NPCs wind up with their own character sheets. I've found it has the nice side benefit of me getting more familiar with the special abilities of the different races and classes, which then allows me to help my players better. Sometimes I have a major NPC planned and make a character sheet from the start. Better than pretty much every other form-filled 2e sheets I've seen. Some critiques: The choice of font is a bit lacking, IMO. The text is very thin and doesn't stand out very well. Some of the text alignment is off. For instance, "Adj" in the saving throw section seems to be left-aligned rather than centred like "Save" is.Input your ability stats and level, the sheet will update your ability modifiers, skills/saving throws, and Proficiency bonus. Will also calculate in your proficiencies and/or expertise. (See the README tab.) Inventory tab calculates Currencies, as well as cost, and weight of items. Also takes into account the amount of an item in the # cell.

Dicecloud has a bit of a learning curve, but is very useful and customizable. I use dicecloud. It's fairly modifiable and easy to use, though you have to add some stuff manually.

This makes creating and upgrading your character much easier, and allows your DM to have a live view of your sheet if you're playing online as so many people do.
