Lincoln sp 125 plus problems.

Nov 1, 2008 · I have an SP135+, a slightly newer version of the 125+. It usually feeds OK but every once in a while it will go in fits and starts. The problem is usually too much pressure on the nut (maybe a wing nut) that holds the wire spool in place. But check the whole feed path - only takes a minute or two. I had two mm130 one was a 130 xp. I would say a fair comparison would be to a Lincoln sp 125 plus. The cost was about even ($500.00 new) The MM 130 was really not much of a welder but the xp version could more then hold it's own with the 125 Lincoln. If your machine is a SP-125T, check the voltage selector switch. A bad switch will kill both weld power and wire feed. A bad switch will also prevent power from getting to the rectifier. A bad rectifier will take out both weld and wire feed in either an SP-125T or an SP-125-PLUS. Cheers,

This will bridge the switch circuit and make the welder feed. If it works, the problem is the gun, (tip, liner) and if it doesnt, the issue is somewhere else in your machine.

It was stored in my dads basement on the floor and the city storm drain backed up and put 3in of water into the machine. I tried to use it the other day and this is what happened.

Do this, you have to the wire back on to the reel. Once the gun is off, take a small piece of mig wire, bent into a u shape and poke it into the two gun switch cables. This will bridge the switch circuit and make the welder feed. If it works, the problem is the gun, (tip, liner) and if it doesnt, the issue is somewhere else in your machine.
